First-Time Cat Boarding Checklist for Pune Pet Parents
A complete checklist covering vaccinations, what to pack, care instructions, and how to make drop-off stress-free for both you and your cat.
1 Week Before Drop-Off
- Confirm vaccinations are current (Tricat + Anti-Rabies)
- Schedule a vet check-up if not done recently
- Book a facility tour (Purr Stay offers free tours)
- Pack your cat's regular food — enough for stay + 20% extra
- Set aside a worn T-shirt or blanket with your scent
1–2 Days Before Drop-Off
- Write a care instruction sheet (see what to include below)
- Pack favourite toy (no small parts)
- Pack any medication with written dosage instructions
- Confirm pickup time / drop-off time with the facility
- Prepare vaccination certificate or vet booklet
On Drop-Off Day
- Stay calm — cats sense your anxiety
- Hand over care instructions and food
- Confirm contact details for updates
- Keep the goodbye brief (under 5 minutes)
- Trust the facility — they do this every day
After Pickup
- Give your cat a quiet evening at home
- Offer familiar food and access to usual spaces
- Expect 24–48 hours of re-adjustment behaviour (normal)
- Ask for feedback from the facility on how your cat did
What to Include in Your Cat's Care Instruction Sheet
- Feeding schedule: how much, how often, wet vs dry ratio
- Favourite foods and any foods to avoid
- Litter brand preference (if particular)
- Medication: name, dose, time, and how to administer
- Behavioural notes: shy, vocal, likes to be held, bites when stressed
- Your contact number + backup emergency contact
- Your vet name and phone number
What about vaccinations?
All reputable cat boarding facilities in Pune require Tricat (the triple vaccine covering Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia) and Anti-Rabies. Vaccinations must be current and administered at least 1 week before boarding — not the same week, as newly vaccinated cats can experience mild reactions. Bring the original vaccination booklet or a signed vet certificate to drop-off.
