    Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our cat boarding and daycare services

Choosing a cat boarder in Pune comes down to safety, hygiene, and how many cats share the space. Purr Stay is a cage-free, cats-only hostel in Wadgaon Sheri where the owners live on-site and board fewer than 10 cats at a time, backed by 24/7 CCTV and a vet on call. Boarding starts at ₹550 per night and includes daily photo updates and doorstep pickup across Pune East. Every cat must be litter-trained and vaccinated with Tricat and Rabies, with proof given 48 hours before check-in — a rule that keeps all guests safe. We have had zero escape incidents since opening in 2024. Below are the questions cat parents ask most often before booking, covering cost, safety, vaccinations, the areas we serve, kittens, and how far ahead to reserve a stay.

    General Questions

We are open Monday to Sunday, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, for check-ins and check-outs. The house does not empty out after that, though. We live on-site, so your cat has company overnight, not only during opening hours.

Ideally yes, at least 1-2 weeks ahead, and more around holidays and busy travel weeks. If your plans came together last minute, message us anyway and we will check what is free.

Please do. We would rather you see the place first. Tours run Monday-Saturday, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Call ahead so we can keep it calm for the cats already staying. If you cannot come in, we will do a video walkthrough instead.

Yes, cats only. With no dogs or other animals around, there is nothing barking or looming to put your cat on edge.

Yes, litter-trained cats only. It keeps every space clean and calm for everyone here. If yours uses a box reliably at home, they are set. Kitten still learning? Let us talk before you book.

We keep it small on purpose, fewer than 10 cats at any time. That is more attention per cat, a quieter house, and faster help than a big kennel-style place can manage.

    Cost & Coverage

Boarding starts at ₹550 a night, and that price is the whole thing: food, a cage-free room, CCTV, daily photos, a vet on call. Daycare is ₹299 for a half day and ₹399 for a full one. A few things sit outside that, like medication or pickup, and we tell you upfront. Nothing sprung on you at checkout.

We are in Wadgaon Sheri, over in Pune East. Most of our cats come from close by, so Kharadi, Viman Nagar, Kalyani Nagar, Koregaon Park, Mundhwa, Magarpatta, Hadapsar and Wagholi are all familiar to us. Further out in Pune? Message us anyway, distance is rarely the problem.

We do. It is ₹500 for a trip within 5km of us, then ₹59 a km past that. Pickup and drop are separate, so book one or both, whichever suits you. The car has AC, so the ride is easy on your cat.

A sitter drops by your flat once or twice a day, and your cat is on their own the rest of the time with nobody watching. Here someone is always around. We live on-site, there is CCTV in every room, and a vet is a phone call away. If something goes wrong it gets caught in minutes, not the next morning.

A caged cat is stuck in a small box most of the day. Cage-free, they can wander, climb, find a corner to hide in, stretch out and sleep the way they do at home. They stay calmer and eat better for it. That is really the whole reason we run the place this way.

A bit, for the first day or so, and that is normal. It settles once they work out the house is quiet and safe. We help it along: cats only, never more than ten at a time, your own food and litter from home, and quiet one-on-one time for the shy ones who would rather not mingle.

Yes. Cats from the same home who already get on can stay together and keep each other company. If they would rather have their own space, that is fine too. Tell us how they are with each other when you book and we will set it up to suit them.

    Boarding Questions

All cats need to be current on Tricat (the triple vaccine covering feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia) and Rabies. Send proof from your vet at least 48 hours before check-in. Flea and tick prevention up to date is a good idea too.

Please do. Your cat's usual food and litter save a lot of the stomach upsets and litter-box trouble that come from switching mid-stay. Bring favourite toys, bedding or comfort items as well, and label everything with your cat's name. We supply bowls, water dishes and litter boxes.

We give oral, topical and injectable medication (₹100 per dose). Bring it in the original packaging with your vet's instructions. Some treatments need a vet authorisation form, and we will tell you if yours does.

Daily photos or videos, over text or email, so you can see how your cat is doing. Want them more often, or worried about something specific? Just say so and we will keep you posted.

If we spot any sign of illness, you hear from us straight away. We are trained in pet first aid and CPR, and in an emergency we take your cat to your own vet or our partner clinic (fees apply). We will never sit on a life-threatening problem waiting for the go-ahead.

We usually suggest not visiting in person. It tends to unsettle a cat right as they are finding their feet, and the second goodbye is hard on them. The daily photos and videos are there so you can watch them settle. A real emergency we will always arrange.

A quieter appetite in the first 24 hours is normal. We keep an eye on food, water and litter-box use. If your cat has not eaten after 36 hours, or something else looks off, we call you and check in with our vet.

Check-in is 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM, and standard checkout is by 10:00 AM. Early check-in can be arranged with notice (₹300). Late checkout runs in tiers: up to 6 hours over is ₹299, 6 to 12 hours is ₹399, and past 12 hours counts as another night (₹550). Partial days are free, so you pay only for the nights your cat stays.

Bring current vaccination proof, your cat's regular food (labelled with feeding instructions), their usual litter, any medication, and a comfort item or two like a favourite blanket or toy. We have bowls, litter boxes and toys, but familiar food, litter and smells help your cat settle faster.

    Daycare Questions

Supervised play, company with compatible cats if your cat likes that, enrichment like toys and laser pointers, quiet rest time in between, and updates for you through the day.

Plenty do, several times a week. We run discounted weekly packages for regulars.

It can be. Shy or anxious cats get one-on-one play with us instead of group time, so there is no pressure to socialise.

    Health & Safety

It is the thing we build everything else around. CCTV in every room, secure window netting, escape-proof doors, and a clean cage-free space for each cat. We need current Tricat and Rabies shots, take litter-trained cats only, and keep a vet on call 24/7 for emergencies.

Yes. We live here, on top of CCTV covering every room. Your cat is never alone in the building. Someone is always around for feeding, litter changes and anything that comes up in the night, with a vet on call if it is ever needed.

We have handled cats of every temperament. That said, for everyone's safety, a cat with a history of serious aggression towards people may not be a fit. We offer a pre-boarding consultation (₹500, put towards the first stay) to work out whether we are right for your cat.

Not full-time on-site, but a vet is on call 24/7 and we have a standing arrangement with a nearby clinic for emergencies. We watch every cat closely and call you the moment something seems off.

We are trained in pet first aid and CPR. In an emergency we call you and take your cat to your own vet or our partner clinic (fees apply). We will not delay treatment waiting for sign-off when it is life-threatening.

Yes. We give oral, topical and injectable medication (₹100 per dose) and look after cats with diabetes, kidney disease and other conditions. Bring detailed instructions and medication in the original packaging. Some treatments need a vet authorisation form.

    Booking & Payments

Cancel 48+ hours before check-in and you get a full refund minus a ₹500 processing fee. Within 48 hours, the 50% deposit is kept, and no-shows forfeit the full payment. Genuine emergencies happen, so bring documentation and we will work with you.

Payment is due at check-in, by UPI or cash. For stays longer than 7 days, a 50% deposit is due when you book.

Yes, weekly packages for regular daycare and better rates for longer boarding stays. Send us your dates on WhatsApp and we will tell you what applies to your booking.

Beyond the nightly rate, a few things are charged separately: medication (₹100/dose), special diets (₹100/day), damage from soiling outside the litter box or destructive behaviour (₹500-₹2000 depending on severity), early check-in (₹300), late checkout (₹299-₹550 depending on delay), pickup or drop-off (₹500 flat per trip within 5km, then ₹59/km), and emergency vet visits (the vet's actual fee plus ₹500 for transport).

Yes — ₹500 per trip within 5km of us, then ₹59/km beyond that. Pickup and drop are booked separately, so pick one or both. Mention it when you book and we will fix a time that works for you.

We keep good food and litter on hand if you get stuck, but we really do recommend bringing your cat's own. It heads off the stomach upsets and litter-box refusals that come with a sudden change. Bring enough for the whole stay, labelled with feeding instructions. We handle special diets and provide bowls and litter boxes.

    Terms & Policies

You are responsible for damage your cat causes to our property, bedding, blankets or furniture. Soiling outside the litter-box area means cleaning and replacement charges (₹500-₹2000 depending on severity). We photograph and document anything that happens and tell you about it.

We keep each cat's things separate and take care to avoid this. In the rare case one cat damages another guest's belongings, we let the owner know and charges may apply.
